Job Description & Background
Job Title: Marketing and Communications Coordinator
Reporting to: Project Coordinator
Contract Type: This is a part-time freelance role, you will be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance.
Hours and remuneration: 16 hours a week (2 days) at £140 a day (including expenses). £36,400 pro rata.
Hours: Hours can be flexible to take account of personal circumstances.
Location: The WW team is based in Bristol. This role will involve homeworking with regular online catchups. Location is flexible. Travel to meetings and events may be required from time to time.

Background
Window Wanderland (WW) is an award-winning, project inspiring and supporting communities to set up local window-display-based walking trails, transforming everyday streets into magical outdoor galleries.
WW connects aims to bring neighbourhoods together, reduce social isolation, and inspire creativity.
Since its inception in 2015, over 300 WW events have taken place here in the UK and overseas in Canada, France and Australia. WW provides resources for these events, as well managing one-off projects, such as online skills workshops.
The role
Window Wanderland Community Interest Company (CIC) is seeking a part-time freelance Marketing and Communication professional.
Primarily you’ll be responsible for direct marketing of our Wanderland packages, ensuring our sustainability. We regularly recruit interns to support our marketing work and recruitment and management of these is within this role.
Output on our social media channels with original content creation using our library of images, creating and following a social media schedule to ensure we don’t miss any marketing opportunities. You’ll also be responsible for supporting our crowdfunding campaign, our online community of Wanderland organisers and creating targeted social media advertising campaigns. You’ll have a strong understanding of social media analytics and insights so we can target our posts effectively.
You’ll be a confident and experienced writer with great national media contacts. Plus, you’ll be responding to press enquiries, supporting Wanderland organisers with PR, and spotting opportunities for us to spread the word about Window Wanderland around the world.
You’ll also have responsibility for some website content creation and blogging, direct marketing initiatives through LinkedIn, and writing our popular Newsletters.
In pre-Covid times we’ve organised events for our organisers and creators. We’ve now gone virtual, so experience of marketing events online would be desirable and, when we can, you’ll be central in our plans to bring our community together in any way we can.
Key responsibilities
Lead Generation
- Using LinkedIn and other platforms, contact relevant individuals and organisations who might want to organise a Window Wanderland
- Focus on UK but with worldwide scope
- Pursue any other lead generations opportunities picked up via social media and other places
Media
- Generate media interest in Window Wanderland locally, nationally and internationally
- Issue press releases
- Follow up all relevant media enquiries
Social Media
- Post regularly on all social media in particular Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
- Develop presence on Pinterest further
- Work alongside additional short term contractors and interns providing social media support
- Writing blogs and updating website as required
Organisers
- Provide PR and social media advice to organisers as required
Marketing
- Our ongoing crowdfunding campaign
- Our online shop (should we relaunch)
- Online events and workshops
- Write quarterly newsletters
HR, Admin & Data Management
- Recruiting and managing Interns from various sources to support marketing work
- Inputting and analysing data
- Assisting with specific admin requirements as required
- Data management in accordance with GDPR requirements

Person specification
Essential
KNOWLEDGE: direct marketing & communications; lead generation; social media including analytics; media & PR.
EXPERIENCE: generating leads; increasing sales; marketing; creating & identifying content for social media; analytics; newsletter production; working with SendinBlue.
SKILLS (PERSONAL): Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; able to write clearly, accurately and succinctly; self-motivated.
SKILLS (TECHNICAL): IT proficient using Microsoft Office and Google drive suite of tools particularly Excel and CRM / management information systems.
ATTRIBUTES: able to work as part of a team; can readily develop and maintain good relationships with colleagues and contacts; flexible approach to working.
Desirable
Knowledge: Social enterprise sector, building corporate relationships.
Experience: Working remotely/independently often with hands-off supervision; GDPR.
