Andover’s Window Wanderland is this weekend!

This weekend experience a little magic in your neighbourhood and plan a family walk to spot all the window makers who are taking part in Andover’s Window Wanderland.

Throughout October and November, residents and businesses were encouraged to register as window makers to create magical, wintry displays in their windows ready for illumination on the 28 and 29 November between 5pm and 9pm.  Together these windows will form a wonderful winter walking trail, which passers-by can enjoy.

So far 103 windows are registered in Andover, with over 20 of those local businesses including the Andover Library, Andover Museum, C & M DIY, Alex McGarry Art, Janet Mary Floral Designs, The Lights, and The Travelling Cupcake in the town centre.  Further afield people can enjoy windows at YMCA Augusta Park, St Pauls Church of England at Knights Enham and Egg Day Nursery at Picket Twenty, all in addition to the residential windows taking part.

The council ran a series of physical workshops prior to lockdown for approximately 30 families who wanted a little help in designing their window, and a further four virtual workshops during November for approximately 40 families.

Local companies, Lee Filters and Fusion Office Supplies have kindly supported the initiative by donating materials, which the council made into packs and delivered to workshop participants during lockdown.

Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Phil North, said: “The Window Wanderland project has been a fantastic way of bringing together businesses, families and communities with one goal in mind, to share creative fun and bring the festive spirit to Andover.”

Those who wish to keep up to date with all the Andover Window Wanderland news can do so via the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WindowWanderlandAndover

So make a date to feel festive this weekend, 28 – 29 November between 5pm and 9pm. This is an informal trail with no start or end point, so families can take part where and when they want in a socially distanced and safe way, and enjoy a stroll in the fresh air at the same time.
