THANK YOU for making the first Homerton & Clapton Window Wanderland such a brilliant success!
From all the comments we’ve received it sounds like pretty much everyone enjoyed our Wanderland over Valentine’s weekend. Thank you all – window makers and visitors – for getting involved and showing such love to the neighbourhood. ❤️💚🖤💙💛💜
In a few days we’ll send a little survey out by email to all window makers – yes all 330 of you – asking you what you thought about it, and for your ideas how to improve the next time we do it. If you’re not a registered window maker you can still fill it in – we’ll share a link on our Instagram and other social media feeds.
If you enjoyed it and still want to show your appreciation, please do make a donation to the Round Chapel (Old School Rooms) covid relief effort. The link is https://theroundchapel.org.uk/donate/ And more about their work is on the update below.
If you didn’t make a window this time, but think you might like to next year, please find the ‘register for notifications’ button on our main page and pop your email in there. We’ll only ever email about a Window Wanderland.
And if you’d like to be more involved next year – helping with getting new communities on board, or leading a workshop for people wanting help making a window, or if you’re a local business who wants to sponsor the event … please do contact the organiser via the blue button. We’d love to hear from you.
In the meanwhile we’ll be sharing as many pictures as we can on Instagram – do share yours via email or social media with the hashtag #lightupclapton.
Till the next time,
The Homerton & Clapton Window Wanderland team 👏🏽👏🏿👏🏻
253 windows 🤗 Love that folks are signing up still with three days to go!
Don’t forget to take a picture of your window and post it to our social media #lightupclapton. If you are self isolating you can still enjoy the show!
Remember Covid hasn’t gone away so take care at the weekend. But feel the love and the light we all created to keep us going in lockdown 👏🏻👏🏽
Homerton & Clapton rock!
UPDATE! Two weeks to go…
170 windows! Wow! Thanks for joining in!
We wanted to keep it free to sign up, but people have asked about donating, so here’s a suggestion of a local charity doing wonders in these Covid times. The Round Chapel (Old School Rooms) has been working in our local community since 1995 but during Covid really stepped up to fill the gaps people were falling through. They’ve been supporting vulnerable people providing hot meals, food parcels, telephone support and advice with housing, benefits and other issues. Just awesome. https://theroundchapel.org.uk/donate/
Need some materials?
If you’re stuck for ideas or materials to make your window display, we can help – we have a few packs to give away. First come, first served. Email email@example.com.
Getting the word out
Also please find here: a flyer which you can print. (You may have to copy and paste the link) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VqQBxxQr-jrm8jDHHRUA_TqrJEnBV8PQ/view?usp=sharing
Please print it or share it where you can. And pop it up in your window ahead of the Wanderland trail to let people know you’re part of it.
Can’t wait to see your windows on the night! Don’t forget to take a picture and share it with us.
We’ve all be inspired by the rainbows for the NHS and carers, and by Black Lives Matter posters in our windows. This half term, with your help, we will transform the neighbourhood – which is home to the wonderful Homerton Hospital – into a magical outdoor gallery for all to enjoy!
Please join us!
Taking part as a Windowmaker is FREE, and everyone’s welcome. You can make a display in the windows of your flat, house, business, school, nursery, car, campervan, shop – or your front garden!
Our theme is ….
💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🖤L O V E 🖤❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
We all need it. We thrive on it. We are better people when we give it away. It’s held us together through the pandemic. It will hold us til the end. Love is all you need.
Please don’t feel intimidated. Often displays are made with coloured tissue and black paper to create a sort of ‘stained glass’ effect. When you sign up you’ll get loads of ideas in the Gallery pages. But your display could be as simple as objects lit up or fairy-lights in a window. Use recycled material where you can. Or go all out and stage a performance in your front room! Anything goes… as long as it’s family-friendly!

What to do next:
- Click on the ‘Take part in this event’ button to register and add your window location to our map.
- You’ll get a ‘Welcome Pack’ when you sign in and access to lots of inspiration for windows too.
- Tell your friends and neighbours and ask them to get involved – especially those who may be feeling isolated at the moment.
- How about your block of flats? Or your whole road? Who will you ask?!
- Don’t forget those not social media (you can register their window for them with their permission).
- Get cutting, sticking, drawing, making, and let the creative juices run. Be a kid again. Make stuff.
Check ebay for packs of tissue paper – they’re not too expensive – but we hope to have some materials for those who need some. Give us a shout if you do. And if you have any questions, want some help to make a window, would like to sponsor, promote or volunteer to help with this event, please contact Lynda MacInnes through Contact organiser on the right.
Sign up soon so others are encouraged to join in!
