The Salisbury city vibrancy partnership, Salisbury BID, Wiltshire Creative and Salisbury City Council with funding from HSBC and Wiltshire Council brings Window Wanderland to Salisbury. Window Wanderland has been seen on the streets of the UK since 2015 and is a creative way to connect people by transforming streets into magical outdoor galleries.
The festival will bring fun and light to our streets after eighteen dark months and the timing in November coincides with two religious festivals – the festival of Diwali celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and some Buddhists, and the Christian festival of All Saints and All Souls when candles of remembrance, thanksgiving and hope are lit.
We are celebrating the diversity in our city and are delighted to be working with our local Nepalese community in Salisbury who, by collaborating with 3 local artists, have inspired the vision of the Diwali themed window designs. Diwali promotes happiness and positivity and celebrates the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.
The community will be performing cultural dancing in the Guildhall on the opening night of Thursday 4th November. There will be three performances for up to 65 people at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm.
